Committees
Color Guard
Do you want to represent the Post at parades, events and funerals? We are always looking for new members. The Post pays for the uniforms. All you need to provide is your time. Contact John Conlon.
Outreach
The following sub-committees fall under the umbrella of the Outreach Committe. If you wish to volunteer to help with one or more of the committees or, if you need the services of a committee please contact the Outreach Coordinator, Pat at outreach@ohiopost630.com.
UC Blue Ash
Once a term during the school year, members of Post 630 set up an information table at UCBA. We meet and greet students, staff, and faculty. We also visit the Veterans Lounge and bring coffee supplies for the student veterans. We participate in other veteran centered events at UCBA.
How can you help? As a Post member, you can sign up to attend one of the visits. Are you a student veteran? Contact Veteran Services Coordinator at UCBA (position unfilled at this time) or stop by the Veteran Office in Muntz Hall, Room 343.
Mess Hall
Members of the Post provide meals for members in need.
- Short Term Mess Haul is for members with a short term medical challenge. These members would benefit from having a few meals delivered for a week or two.
- Long Term Mess Haul is for members facing a long term mediccal challenge. These members would receive meals once or twice a month.
How can you help? Volunteer to bring meals or donate money for the meals. Contact the Outreach Coordinator Pat to get on the list of volunteers to be called up when the need arises.
Visit-a-Vet
This committee was formed to make contact in person or by phone with members who could use some company. If you would like to have a visit or are willing to visit someone, contact Steve Stratemeyer.
Montgomery Hopewell Cemetary Veteran Flag Placement
Each year on the Saturday before Veteran's Day, our Post coordinates with the City of Montgomery in the placement of flags on approximately 400 veterans' graves. Volunteers from the Post and Community gather together to honor those veterans. Want to volunteer? Look for information on our website regarding date and time. It should be posted in October and November. Contact the Outreach Coordinator, Pat at outreach@ohiopost630.com.
Motor Pool ON HOLD PENDING A COORDINATOR
This committee is to coorrdinate the need some members have for rides to meetings and events with those who can provide rides. This committee is currently looking for a coordinator. Is that you? Contact the Outreach Coordinator, Pat. at outreach@ohiopost630.com.
Never Alone
This Committee was formed to meet the needs of a veteran who dies alone at the VA Medical Center. No veteran should be forgotten and therefore VA Medical Center notifies the Post when a veteran dies alone and will have no one attend the funeral. When this happens, members of our Post will be notified by an email of the need and can volunteer then to go to the funeral.
Mail Call
Throughout the year we send out cards to members to include:
- Birthday Cards for members 80 or older (if we have your birthday in our records)
- Get well Cards
- Sympathy Cards to member's families
- Thinking of you Cards to those members who are unable to attend meetings
If you know someone who needs to be put on the card list, contact the Outreach Coordinator Pat or the Post Chaplin at chaplin@ohiopost630.com
